HP Laser MFP 137fnw - You do not have permission to open the application 'HP Scanner 3' error (macOS)

When using your scanner in Apple Image Capture, Preview, or Printers and Scanners, a You do not have permission to open the application "HP Scanner 3" message displays and the scan job fails.

  1. On the Mac, click the Apple menu .

  2. Click System Preferences > Software Update.

    The Software Update window displays and automatically searches for any new updates.

  3. Click Update Now or Upgrade Now, and then follow the instructions to update or upgrade macOS.

  4. Once the update or upgrade completes, rescan the document or photo.
