HP Laser MFP 137fnw - Scanning issues after updating the HP Smart app (macOS)

After updating the HP Smart app to version 15.0 in macOS, you might experience one of the following scanning issues:

  • Cannot save scans directly to a local folder in macOS

  • Unable to increase the scan resolution above 300 dpi

The issue is now fixed in the HP Smart app version 15.1.1.

Scanning workarounds

Use a temporary workaround if you are experiencing scanning issues.

NOTE:

Currently, there is no workaround to increase the dpi above 300. This will be addressed in a future release. Check the Mac App Store for the latest updates.

  • To save files locally, turn off iCloud backup or email the scan to yourself.

    • To turn off iCloud backup, click the Settings icon  from the HP Smart app home screen. Select the Back up to iCloud setting, and then disable the feature. Click Close, and then select Keep on My Mac when prompted. Any new scans automatically save locally to the Documents/HP Smart folder.

    • To email the files to yourself, click Share/Save option after scanning the files, change any settings, and then click Share/Save again. Select your preferred email app, such as Mail or Gmail, send the file to yourself, and then save it on your Mac.

  • To scan multiple files at once, use the + Add or Batch scanning feature.

    • If your printer has an ADF, load and scan multiple pages at once.

    • After your first page is scanned, click + Add in the top left of the scan preview screen.

    • Use the Batch scan preset from the right-side menu.
