HP printer setup (Mac PostScript and PCL drivers)

HP printer setup (Mac PostScript and PCL drivers)

If your printer does not support Apple AirPrint, or a full-feature driver is unavailable, install a generic driver for basic printing functionality in macOS.

  1. Connect the printer to the Mac with a USB cable or to the same local network the Mac is connected to.

  2. Click the Spotlight icon  to search for and open Printers & Scanners.

  3. Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax or the Add button .

  4. In the Add Printer window, select your printer from the Default tab, or enter the printer IP address on the IP tab .

  5. From the Use menu, select Generic PCL Printer, or if the PCL driver is not listed select Generic PostScript Printer.

  6. Add the printer to complete the setup.
